Sar Wagman

Sar Wagman

SAR is a Toronto-based artist who works in cross-disciplinary media and is driven by a passion for art, sustainability, and inclusion. Largely inspired by their disabled, lesbian, and Jewish-Indo Trinidadian identity, Sar challenges viewers to consider how life intertwines with nature, and how socio-political disability intersects with their daily existence. SAR's works seek to bring light to the experiences of those whose narratives remain unacknowledged in the mainstream. In their work, SAR confronts issues such as sustainability, the fluidity of identity in a global society, and the transformation of the body under the pressures of life. SAR's art provides an avenue of expression to help advance sustainability and overturn the notion that only certain bodies deserve the right to be free.Through their art, SAR amplifies the often unrecognised voices of diverse bodies, creating new possibilities for how we live our lives in and with nature.
